How to Get The Airport Look Right, And Also Be Comfortable

(For women, look out for the men’s list next Thursday)

City: Noida

So, ok, we are not celebrities, and don’t have the paparazzi waiting with their cameras for us as we disembark from our flights. But let’s face it, it pays to dress well, and sensibly while travelling. For many reasons; you can rush for your commitments as you reach the destination, rather than getting into the hassle of changing, you may meet interesting people, and then feel utterly stupid for being caught in your most comfortable pyjamas. And, dressing well lends one an air of confidence, you may get upgraded to the business too. It happens all the time. At the risk of sounding superficial, we say, you are judged by what you wear. Not to mean, you have to over- dress, but be smart, be comfortable, and be tidy. So, based on our experience in the travel domain, we have certain suggestions, of course, you can tweak it according to your own style:

Clothes
Blanket scarf
Rely on the old and tested

Travel in clothes and shoes you have already tried, don’t take out that new pair of denims or dress, you wouldn’t know how it behaves with you. You would be sitting for hours at the airport, and the plane, post which you have to resume your daily life (unless you are the type who doesn’t have to work for a living). There definitely will be temperature variation, and uneasy middle seat situations in the plane.

Always Layer

Especially for domestic travel: India is a world in its own, when it comes to temperature too, from humid coastal, to dry North, and rainy East, you can never be sure where the sun or rain will be, so be prepared. Always, and always, carry a scarf, the kinds Zara and Mango has, that can double up as a blanket in the plane when the airline decides to freeze its passengers.
Carry a denim jacket, shrug or a cotton formal jacket, depending on what you are travelling for. Plus, it helps to cover up the creased top after you de-board.

Big Bag

Big bag, big bag, big bag, we cannot stress enough about carrying a big tote. From your ticket, to little bottle of lip guard and moisturiser, the iPad and the book, you get us, women carry the whole world in their bags, so you get the point.

Big Accessory

One big accessory

This is purely for style purpose, a nice watch, hoop earrings, big belt or just those large sunglasses, that cover your face while you take a nap, without being seen.  A statement accessory adds that extra touch that says you took care to dress, without looking tacky. And that’s always a good thing.

Stretch Black leggings

This one is a blessing in disguise for all the women, thank god, lycra. Stretch black leggings can be paired with a tank top, as well as it can be combined with a smart formal shirt. It is comfortable, and its snug fits gives the wearer a smart look, without trying too hard. A black one doesn’t look washed out or even dirty, and it is one of the most comfortable attire for women.

Ballerina

Denims, dress, skirt or even our desi styles, a ballerina goes well with all. There are many varieties available in stores – some with kitten heels, others that are flat, few with comfortable cushioning. They are the best, and fashionable option to travel in. You could give your feet some breather in these long journeys easily. Some people are sneaker people, if you are one, great, but definitely avoid heels, and definitely skip boots.
